STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

PETER LONG awarded a full scholarship to the MGA Academy in Edinburgh to study Musical Theatre.

JESSIE STANLEY accepted to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in the UK to study Musical Theatre.

EOIN MCCAUL awarded a full scholarship to Arts Educational school in London.

SHAUNA COADE awarded a half scholarship in musical theatre and dance to  Masters College of Performing Arts in the UK.

Drama student FREYA WARD accepted to the Brit School in London.

PETER LONG received a summer scholarship to study dance at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona.

JENNIFER BARRY played the role of Siobhan Walsh in the hit TV series ‘The Young Offenders’.

EMILY MURTAGH featured and sang in the TV show ‘The School’.

RORY COLLINS, EOIN MCCAUL & KATE SAMPSON selected to perform with the Cork Youth Ballet Company.

MARK SAMPSON made his West End debut in a new musical entitled 'Unfolding Tales'.

Drama students CLIONA REARDON & ALI FITZGERALD featured in a radio ad for Fota.

Drama student MATTHEW CARROLL featured in a national radio ad for Crown Paints.

Musical theatre student CHLOE O’ MAHONY won Teen Star 2018.

Senior dance student JENNY MURPHY offered a summer scholarship to the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in America.

ABBIE PALLISER KEHOE accepted to NYMT in the UK for the summer to perform in a new work ‘Superhero’.

Drama students CIARAN & RIAN O’ HALLORAN selected to present the RTÉjr Science show.

6 students selected to be part of the junior ensemble of the Cork Opera House summer musical 'The Wizard of Oz' - LORNA FOLEY, COURTNEY-ROSE LINEHAN, EMMA KIRBY, FAYE TOBIN, FELIX O SULLIVAN and ORAN MURPHY.

JILLIANE VALDEZ, MOLLY HICKEY, LIV GREGORIO, HANNAH MCCARTHY and LASAIRFHIONA DE BRUN as ‘Annie’ represented the school in the Cork Opera House production of ‘Annie’.

60,000 audience members saw our students perform in 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' at the Cork Opera House.

THE MONTFORT YOUTH CHOIR

The Montfort Youth Choir under Musical Director Carol Arnopp performed their own show ‘Broadway Kidz’ at the Cork Arts Theatre in April.

They also featured as guest artists in the City Hall as part of Cork International Choral Festival.

The choir performed with the Philadelphia Girls Choir in St. Fin Barra’s cathedral.

The choir performed in ‘Carols by Candlelight’ in St. Patrick’s Church.

The choir also performed at the Lord Mayor’s Gala Christmas Concert in the City Hall.

EXAMINATIONS, COMPETITIONS & PERFORMANCES

546 students participated in the I.D.T.A Dance and Musical Theatre exams in April with a 100% success rate. In addition over 90% of students achieved distinction.

We had a 100% success rate across all disciplines; drama, musical theatre, mime and speaking of verse and prose in the February LAMDA session. Students have just completed exams for the May session.

100% success rate in our singing dept.examination session with the London College of Music last June.

This year was our most successful in Feis Maitiu with winners in drama, musical theatre, singing and group categories. In all we had over 80 placed students including winning the prestigious intermediate and senior musical theatre group competitions for the third year in a row.

120 singing students presented their own shows ‘A Grand Night for Singing’ in the Cork Arts Theatre and ‘Carol Bells’ over Christmas.

Over 1300 students featured in our Christmas panto ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ in the Firkin Crane theatre.

Over 200 students featured in our Autumn musical ‘The Addams Family’ in the Everyman Theatre.

Throughout the year we were delighted to host a number of workshops and masterclasses including a Stanislavski drama workshop, a Commercial & Contemporary Dance class with Sarah Stanley, two dance masterclassses with Robert Foley from the Institute of the Arts Barcelona and a musical theatre workshop with Broadway star Chryssie Whitehead. We also welcomed guest teachers Ciaran Connolly, Joseph Connor and Pat Crosbie.
