New York is calling for Cork Young Star!


April 2013 - The Montfort College of Performing Arts is proud to announce that their drama student Eoghan Moloney has been accepted to the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. 20,000 young hopefuls applied worldwide for this covetous place. After a rigorous audition process he was one of the lucky 32 who was selected for the course. The whole fo the college and in particular Eileen Nolan (director) and Trevor Ryan (director and Eoghan’s Acting tutor) wish Eoghan the very best for the future.
Eoghan is a seventeen year old actor based in Cork. Hailing from Youghal he began performing in the Cork Opera House pantomime yearly from the age of six whilst studying Tap and Modern dance under Donna Daly-Blythe.
He then began taking classes in musical theatre in and playing achieved lead roles in musicals such as Rooster in "Annie" and The Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz". Eoghan went onto to study Acting with Trevor Ryan at Cork Arts Studio Stageworks and followed him to The Montfort College of Performing Arts and in this time he starred in productions of "Seussical the Musical" playing the lead Wickersham Brother in the Everyman Palace, and playing Prince Charming in "Cinderella" at Cork Arts Theatre. 
Soon after, Eoghan played Georgie in the stage adaptation of the highly controversial "A Clockwork Orange" in the Cork Arts Theatre with The Wild Ensemble, directed by John Hayes. Eoghan is also an active member of Cork Operatic Society, performing in their productions of "Sweeney Todd" and "Pagliacci". Last year saw Eoghan perform the role of Jay in Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers to critical acclaim performing his debut with The Cork Repertory Company.
For those other young hopefuls out there, The Montfort College of Performing Arts are always happy to help with an aim to build confidence, communication skills, fluency of speech and the development of the imagination.
Drama classes are based on drama games, improvisation, rhythm exercises, voice work, mime, movement and general stagecraft. Students are encouraged to develop their understanding and enjoyment of acting through practical lessons, script work, improvisation and performance. The emphasis is very much on creativity, fun and enjoyment.
Students are also prepared for Feis Maitiu and LAMDA exams and also have an opportunity to participate in their annual musical and pantomime.  The drama department is headed up by Director and Actor Trevor Ryan FLCM, LLAM, ALAM (act), ALAM (rec). 

Their success in drama in unique and unparalleled in the city and county. Each year they have students who are accepted into the most prestigious drama schools in the world including the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, the London Academy of Dramatic Art and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York to name but a few.
Whether it's to build confidence, have fun or pursue a career in the acting industry their drama curriculum is suited to students of all ages and ability.
