Why choose us?

Why Choose Montfort College?

When you and your child choose Montfort College you are joining something special - an affiliation and friendship that we hope will last many years, providing a solid base on which your child will thrive.

Curriculum

With 60 years experience as Munster’s leading performing arts college we have the experience and dedication to offer your child the very best in theatre arts training in an enjoyable and naturing environment. Our curriculum is continually honed and crafted to meet the expectations of parents and students. We offer fresh, innovative teaching and follow a syllabus of work which offers optional exam work in all disciplines in order for parents to see development and progression in their child each year. While not compulsory we offer exam work across all disciplines with recognised UK and Irish examining bodies.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are carefully selected, screened, trained and qualified to the highest level. It is the objective of all staff at the college to offer innovative and creative teaching without discrimination or favouritism.  All teachers share the same objective; to help each student increase their abilities and grow as an individual, within a warm and compassionate teaching environment. Throughout the year we continually train, upskill and further qualify our teachers in order to provide fresh, creative and imaginative training to our students.

Performance

We are the only stage school in Munster to offer our students a multitude of opportunities to perform on stage. Every year we produce a large scale musical in the Everyman Theatre, a Christmas panto in the Firkin Crane, a dance and musical theatre extravaganza entitled 'Applause' in the Opera House and three productions in the Cork Arts Theatre; Broadway Kidz, Spring Sing and Drama Showcase.

Costumes

We want our students to feel 'special' on stage when they perform! We invest €20,000 annually on costuming our students in the best theatrical costumes available, which we buy from specialist suppliers in the UK and the Far East. In addition many of our bespoke costumes are hand made in Ireland. No charge is levied to the student at any point thoughout the year for costumes.

Online Bookings

We offer a state of the art online booking facility where profiles can be created for each student and fees can be paid online.

Workshops

Throughout the year we invite industry professionals to train and inspire our students. To date we have welcomed Nikki Snelson star of Legally Blonde and A Chorus Line on Broadway, West End star of Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and The Commitments Killian Donnelly, Rachel Rak, Dance Moms and Legally Blonde on Broadway and Ciaran Connolly - associate choreographer on the recent Spice Girls reunion tour.
