Our dance classes will help in developing balance, strengthening posture as well as co-ordination and basic rhythm.
Students will learn dance styles through fun, pop music as well as musical theatre songs. Students will take part in choreographed routines which are designed to increase observation and retention skills and build ability to work within a structured group.
Classes are also designed to develop performance skills (solo & group work) as well as audition technique. All dance classes are designed to technically develop students to reach their full potential whether on a recreational or professional level.
Our dance classes are taught by qualified teachers, using the I.D.T.A. (International Dance Teachers Assocation) method and syllabus. The International Dance Teachers Association (I.D.T.A.) was founded in 1967 by the amalgamation of several dance societies. It is a non-profit making organisation of teachers for whom it provides a comprehensive examination service. It is responsible for more examinations in dance then any other similar organisation in the world. The Montfort College of Performing Arts is proud to be a member of this organisation and holds its own I.D.T.A. Examinations once a year.
During the February examination session we had a 100% success rate in all IDTA dance exams with 99% of students achieving 'highly commended'.
